Hey there, tech enthusiasts! Have you ever found yourself on a journey you didn’t quite expect? Well, that’s exactly where I am, cruising down the highway, shifting from a strictly AI & Cybersecurity portfolio manager to the newly minted role of product manager of four product lines that I playfully synthesized to AC/DC.
No, I’m not talking about the rock band (sorry, metal music lovers). I’m diving into a world that intertwines AI, Consulting, Data, and Cybersecurity.
Substituting ‘Journailing’ for Storytelling
Let’s rewind a bit. Once upon a time, I faithfully journailed every day, capturing thoughts and ideas in my trusty digital notebook. But then, I discovered the magical Canvas feature in ChatGPT Plus, the faux metal architect of my creative world.
The allure of interactive AI, with its advanced voice mode, lured me into narrating stories rather than jotting down daily musings. Suddenly, I found myself rambling ideas and concepts directly to an audience that wasn’t quite human, but responded in real-time nonetheless.
This pivot from journaling to storytelling wasn’t just a creative outlet; it turned into a playground for exploring new ideas—a space where science, philosophy, and narrative collided in what I cheekily dub Sci-Phi. Doing so in real-time meant going beyond the static act of writing; it was about actively co-creating with AI. And let’s face it, breaking free from the monotony of journaling was exactly what I needed.
The AC/DC Product Lines
Fast forward to my professional transformation. I took on interim roles almost like a rock band switching genres, and an interesting thing happened: I became the product manager for what I’m now calling AC/DC. While my friends might still associate it with headbanging tracks, AC/DC in my world stands for:
- AI
- Consulting
- Data
- Cybersecurity
This change allowed me to expand my purview beyond cybersecurity to include a broader tech landscape that truly excites me.
Our company’s leadership embraced the notion of integrating data and AI into our core offerings, which, to me, sounded like music to my ears. As part of this strategic reshuffle, we introduced a more dynamic approach to portfolio management—appointing a primary and backup product manager (PM) for cybersecurity, with yours truly as the latter. This ensures continuity and agility within our portfolio team.
On the Road Again: Driving Ideas Forward
Interestingly enough, much of this brainstorming and development happens during my commutes. The road acts as my muse, transforming my drive time into a super-productive period. Whether it was engaging with AI for spontaneous creative storytelling or strategizing the future of our tech offerings, the car became my mobile innovation lab.
What’s the takeaway here? Embracing change, blending creativity with technology, and reimagining product management in a world rapidly driven by data and AI. It’s been quite the ride, and I can’t wait to see where this highway takes me next.
Let’s just hope not a Highway to Hell.
